After the April 9, 2008 performance of Shout To The Lord on American Idol that editted the word, “Jesus,” with “Shepherd,” the Christian community reacted negatively. Here’s the performance:

Oh, good, I can still put this on my blog. I had put another You tube of this that is no longer available.
My take is that when they played the first version, it was done during the “Idol Gives Back” time, and I suspect they were trying to appeal to believers to partipate in the charities they had chosen to support. I suspect they may have caught some kind of flack for altering the words the first time, and so sang it correctly the second time.
