Eric Redmond Has Invited Me For Lunch
Few days ago, a fellow by the name of Eric Redmond posted a comment inviting me for lunch. As I always do before accepting such a gracious invitation on a public forum as this, I wanted to first find out who Eric is. He did sign the comment “Pastor ECR.” So at least, I knew he was a pastor, but I didn’t know of what.
-
If he was a non-Calvinist desiring a discussion on Calvinism or a Mormon wanting to discuss my previous postings about Mormonism, then I’d know that the lunch meeting would probably be apologetic.
-
If he was a fellow Reformed pastor of a church plant or small church, then I’d know that the lunch might be for encouragement, new friendship, and sharing of common grounds.
Well, to my surprise, Eric Redmon is none of the above. Here’s what I have found out about him.
-
He pastors a significantly large church of 500 members in Temple Hills, MD, called Hillcrest Baptist Church.
-
He had taught at Washington Bible Seminary in Lanham, MD, according to this website.
-
He is the current 2007-2008 SBC 2nd Vice-President.
-
He runs a blog site, A Man From Issachar, discussing, what appears to me, mostly about the relationship African-American culture has in theology, ecclesiology and spirituality.
-
He was interviewed by Mark Dever and the 9Marks ministry about his letter he had sent to Mark Dever, Paige Patterson, Danny Akin and others on the topic of “racism and theology.” (I’ll post the interview, as well as a round-table discussion they had tomorrow.)
Well, this will be an interesting lunch.
