Emerging Church Movement Reported On MSNBC’s Nightly News? NOT!
Tom Brokaw and NBC Nightly News interviewed Dr. Albert Mohler and 27 year old pastor Tadd Grandstaff on the issue of the Younger Evangelicals‘ faith, philosophy of ministry, and role in politics.
Here is the teaser video:
Here is the original interview by Tom Brokaw with Tadd Grandstaff.
Here is the final MSNBC Nightly News report on December 1, 2007:
As typical of any secular media, MSNBC has misconstrued and misquoted the information.
1. Pine Ridge Church in Graham, N.C., pastored by Tadd Grandstaff, is NOT Emerging Church Movement’s Younger Evangelicals’ as incorrectly mentioned in the video above by Tom Brokaw.
2. Jennifer Snipe’s (a member of Pine Ridge Church) comment, ”I think that’s a personal issue set aside from any church issues,” was used out of context. While Nighly News decided to quote her in the context of “homosexuality,” she said those words in the context of the church’s role in the 2008 election.
Tadd Grandstaff clarifies both of these errors made by MSNBC on his weblog.
So what is Pine Ridge Church? Looks like a typical non-doctrinal-minded Southern Baptist trendy church trying to be hip to reach the ”I-don’t-want-to-grow-up” 14-40 year old adolescents.
