Daniel, I am familiar with your pastor by name only. I never met him in person. But I did meet Rev. Ruth Kim at a friend's wedding at KCQ many years ago. And I also know one of the current elders of KCQ (the father of my betrothed friend).

Therefore, I am vaguely familiar about KCQ going through a transition in a new 1st-Generation senior pastor that caused the EM pastor (your current pastor) to also leave.

I too am 2nd-Generation and have done my best in relating with the 1st-Generation in ministry together, but has proven burdensome.

May God's glory be displayed in your church planting.

Thank you for this article. This situation is coming to a head and speaking as a 37 year old 2nd generation Korean American I can tell you first hand it is a challenge to bridge the cultural gaps between the generations and cultures.

You can count our church as one of those 150 independent and autonomous 1.5/2nd generation English speaking congregations.
